Material World: The Gravity of Desire

The Gravity of Desire reflects upon the contemporary condition in which humanity becomes increasingly entangled with material power, technological acceleration, and unrestrained longing. While progress promises comfort and efficiency, it simultaneously intensifies fragmentation, conflict, and ethical erosion.

    The paintings depict bodies, animals, and objects collapsing into dense, intertwined masses — a metaphor for the dissolution of individuality under the pressure of desire. In Buddhist thought, such attachment arises from kilesa — greed, anger, and ignorance — mental forces that cloud discernment and bind consciousness to suffering. The figures appear suspended between struggle and surrender, caught within cycles of craving, domination, and consequence.

    Yet within this congestion emerges a quiet counterpoint: circular formations and lotus-like structures evoke impermanence, rebirth, and the possibility of awakening. Rather than condemning the human condition, the works invite contemplation — a meditative pause to observe how karma unfolds through intention and action.

    The exhibition proposes that true progress cannot be measured solely by material advancement, but by the refinement of awareness, compassion, and ethical responsibility. In confronting the gravity of desire, viewers are invited to reflect upon their own position within the cycle — and the fragile balance between possession and liberation.

โลก วัตถุ: แรงโน้มถ่วงของความปรารถนา 

    

    ถ่ายทอดสภาวะของมนุษย์ร่วมสมัยที่ถูกดึงรั้งด้วยอำนาจของวัตถุ เทคโนโลยี และความอยากอันไม่สิ้นสุด ความเจริญแม้สร้างความสะดวกสบาย หากกลับซ้อนทับด้วยความเปราะบาง ความขัดแย้ง และการเสื่อมถอยทางจิตสำนึกอย่างเงียบงัน

    ภาพร่างกาย มนุษย์ สัตว์ และวัตถุที่หลอมรวมกันอย่างอัดแน่น สะท้อนการเลือนหายของตัวตนภายใต้แรงกดทับของความปรารถนา ในมุมมองทางพุทธศาสนา สภาวะดังกล่าวเกิดจากกิเลส — ราคะ โทสะ และโมหะ — ซึ่งบดบังความชัดเจนของจิตใจและผูกมัดมนุษย์ไว้กับความทุกข์ การดิ้นรน การครอบครอง และการแย่งชิงจึงดำเนินวนซ้ำอย่างไม่รู้จบ

    อย่างไรก็ตาม ท่ามกลางความหนาแน่นของความวุ่นวาย ยังปรากฏจังหวะแห่งความสงบในรูปทรงวงกลมและดอกบัว อันเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของการเกิดดับ ความไม่เที่ยง และศักยภาพของการตื่นรู้ งานมิได้ตัดสิน หากเชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมเฝ้ามองตนเองผ่านกระบวนการใคร่ครวญอย่างสงบ

    นิทรรศการนี้ตั้งคำถามถึงความหมายของความเจริญที่แท้จริง ว่ามิได้วัดเพียงความมั่งคั่งทางวัตถุ หากยังรวมถึงการขัดเกลาจิตใจ ความรับผิดชอบต่อการกระทำ และความสมดุลระหว่างการครอบครองกับการปล่อยวาง
