JAYOTO / Utit Phokhum (b.
1991)
JAYOTO works
across painting, graphic design, street art, and public space, developing a
visual language shaped by animated characters, popular culture, and the
immediacy of urban imagery. Through energetic lines, vivid colours, and densely
assembled figures, he creates imaginary worlds that communicate directly with
viewers while moving between fine art, design, and everyday visual culture.
His
characters function not simply as playful inventions but as vessels for
emotion, memory, and the contradictions of contemporary life. Familiar
references drawn from comics, animation, film, and art history are fragmented
and recombined into hybrid forms, creating scenes where humour and disorder,
fantasy and anxiety, as well as innocence and damage coexist.
In Afternoon
Effect and Tebster: Impressions of Damage, presented at Number 1 Gallery in
2023 and 2025, JAYOTO expanded his imagined universe from a luminous realm of
perpetual daylight into a more complex meditation on fragility, force, cultural
memory, and the unstable boundary between the world we inhabit and the worlds
we construct through imagination.

JAYOTO สร้างสรรค์ผลงานครอบคลุมทั้งจิตรกรรม การออกแบบกราฟิก สตรีทอาร์ต และพื้นที่สาธารณะ โดยพัฒนาภาษาทัศนศิลป์จากตัวละคร วัฒนธรรมป๊อป และพลังของภาพในสภาพแวดล้อมเมือง ผ่านเส้นสายที่เคลื่อนไหว สีสันสดเข้ม และการรวมตัวของรูปทรงจำนวนมาก เขาสร้างโลกในจินตนาการที่สื่อสารกับผู้ชมอย่างตรงไปตรงมา พร้อมเคลื่อนผ่านเส้นแบ่งระหว่างศิลปะ การออกแบบ และวัฒนธรรมทางสายตาในชีวิตประจำวัน
ตัวละครของเขามิได้เป็นเพียงภาพแทนอันสนุกสนาน หากทำหน้าที่รองรับอารมณ์ ความทรงจำ และความย้อนแย้งของชีวิตร่วมสมัย ภาพอ้างอิงจากคอมิก แอนิเมชัน ภาพยนตร์ และประวัติศาสตร์ศิลป์ ถูกแยกส่วนและประกอบขึ้นใหม่เป็นตัวละครลูกผสม เกิดเป็นฉากที่อารมณ์ขันกับความสับสน จินตนาการกับความวิตกกังวล ตลอดจนความไร้เดียงสากับร่องรอยของความเสียหายดำรงอยู่ร่วมกัน

Gallery ในปี พ.ศ. 2566 และ 2568 JAYOTO ได้ขยายโลกสมมติของตนจากดินแดนสว่างไสวที่กลางวันไม่สิ้นสุด ไปสู่การพิจารณาความเปราะบาง พลัง ความทรงจำทางวัฒนธรรม และเส้นแบ่งที่ไม่มั่นคงระหว่างโลกซึ่งเราอาศัยอยู่กับโลกที่เราสร้างขึ้นผ่านจินตนาการ
