Ekasit Rayubsang (b. 1976)
Ekasit
Rayubsang examines the relationship between portraiture, collective memory,
faith, and historical representation. Drawing upon archival and widely
recognised images, he reconstructs familiar figures through subdued tones,
layered surfaces, and the deliberate interplay of visibility and disappearance.
Working with
wax pencil, acrylic, oil, and drawing on aluminium, Ekasit creates portraits
that seem to emerge gradually from darkness. Details are softened, obscured, or
suspended beneath shadow, shifting attention from physical likeness toward the
emotions and memories attached to the represented figure.
Across The
Lights of Faith, The Lights of Remembrance, and Eternity—three solo exhibitions
presented at Number 1 Gallery between 2017 and 2021—portraiture becomes a space
for contemplating remembrance, devotion, time, and the ways public images
continue to inhabit individual and collective consciousness.

ศิลปินใช้ดินสอไข สีอะคริลิก สีน้ำมัน และการวาดเส้นบนแผ่นอะลูมิเนียม สร้างภาพบุคคลที่ดูราวกับกำลังค่อย ๆ ปรากฏขึ้นจากความมืด รายละเอียดบางส่วนถูกลดทอน ปกคลุม หรือแขวนค้างอยู่ภายใต้เงา ทำให้ความสนใจเคลื่อนจากความเหมือนทางกายภาพไปสู่ความรู้สึกและความทรงจำที่ผู้ชมมีต่อบุคคลในภาพ
