Jirasak Plabootong (b. 1964)

Jirasak Plabootong explores the human face and body as surfaces upon which memory, emotion, and the pressures of lived experience accumulate. Through layered acrylic paint, fragmented forms, and weathered textures, he allows physical likeness to emerge and dissolve, shifting the portrait from an external representation toward an interior psychological space.

In Reflections from Within and the group exhibition Facade, presented with Number 1 Gallery in 2010 and 2011, the face becomes a threshold between appearance and inner reality. Although his later practice has moved increasingly toward abstraction and the natural world, his continuing concerns with transformation, material, and emotional perception remain central to his artistic language.

จิรศักดิ์ ปลาบู่ทอง สำรวจใบหน้าและร่างกายมนุษย์ในฐานะพื้นที่ซึ่งความทรงจำ อารมณ์ และแรงกดดันจากประสบการณ์ชีวิตเข้ามาทับซ้อน ผ่านชั้นสีอะคริลิก รูปทรงที่แตกกระจาย และพื้นผิวคล้ายผ่านการกัดกร่อน เขาทำให้รูปลักษณ์ของบุคคลปรากฏขึ้นและเลือนหาย เปลี่ยนภาพเหมือนจากการบันทึกรูปลักษณ์ภายนอกไปสู่พื้นที่ทางจิตใจภายใน

ในนิทรรศการ Reflections from Within และนิทรรศการกลุ่ม Facade ซึ่งจัดแสดงร่วมกับ Number 1 Gallery ในปี พ.ศ. 2553 และ 2554 ใบหน้ากลายเป็นรอยต่อระหว่างภาพที่ปรากฏกับความจริงภายใน แม้ผลงานระยะหลังของเขาจะเคลื่อนไปสู่นามธรรมและธรรมชาติมากขึ้น แต่ประเด็นเรื่องการเปลี่ยนแปลง สภาวะของวัสดุ และการรับรู้ทางอารมณ์ยังคงเป็นแกนสำคัญในภาษาศิลปะของเขา
