Jirapat
Tatsanasomboon explores the encounter between Eastern and Western cultures by
bringing figures from Thai mythology and traditional art into dialogue with
icons of Western art and popular culture. Through appropriation, juxtaposition,
and visual hybridisation, he constructs scenes in which Hanuman, Tosakanth,
superheroes, and familiar images from art history meet across different periods
and systems of belief.
Beneath their
vivid colours and playful appearances, his paintings examine cultural power,
imitation, consumerism, and the continual transformation of identity. Rather
than treating tradition as fixed, Tatsanasomboon reassembles its symbols within
contemporary contexts, revealing how Thai culture absorbs, negotiates, and
resists the influences of an increasingly interconnected world.

จิรพัฒน์ ทัศนสมบูรณ์ สำรวจการเผชิญหน้าระหว่างวัฒนธรรมตะวันออกกับตะวันตก โดยนำตัวละครจากตำนานและศิลปะจารีตของไทยมาสนทนากับบุคคลสำคัญในประวัติศาสตร์ศิลป์และสัญลักษณ์จากวัฒนธรรมป๊อปตะวันตก ผ่านการหยิบยืม วางเคียง และประกอบภาพขึ้นใหม่ หนุมาน ทศกัณฐ์ ซูเปอร์ฮีโร่ และภาพอันคุ้นเคยจากศิลปะต่างยุคจึงมาพบกันภายในพื้นที่เดียวกัน
ภายใต้สีสันสดเข้มและรูปลักษณ์อันสนุกสนาน ผลงานของเขาพิจารณาอำนาจทางวัฒนธรรม การเลียนแบบ บริโภคนิยม และการเปลี่ยนแปลงของอัตลักษณ์ จิรพัฒน์มิได้มองประเพณีเป็นสิ่งหยุดนิ่ง แต่รื้อและประกอบสัญลักษณ์เหล่านั้นขึ้นใหม่ในบริบทร่วมสมัย เพื่อสะท้อนว่าวัฒนธรรมไทยรับ ต่อรอง และต่อต้านอิทธิพลจากโลกที่เชื่อมโยงถึงกันมากขึ้นอย่างไร
