Jiranchai Ninthanaphant (b. 2000)

Jiranchai Ninthanaphant examines the ways individuals are shaped, confined, and judged by social structures, inherited traditions, and collective expectations. Through figurative painting, he explores the tension between personal freedom and the pressure to conform, questioning whether difference is genuinely accepted or merely tolerated within prescribed boundaries.

His paintings draw upon the atmosphere and compositional language of historical imagery while deliberately introducing distortion, interruption, and visual instability. Human figures appear isolated, displaced, or gathered in uneasy relationships, transforming familiar scenes into psychological spaces where harmony and conflict coexist. Dark tonalities, blurred gestures, and fractured bodies convey the vulnerability concealed beneath social roles and appearances.

In Non-Harmony, his first solo exhibition with Number 1 Gallery in 2025, Ninthanaphant presented difference not as disorder but as a necessary condition of human existence. His continuing practice seeks to challenge fixed perceptions of beauty, normality, and belonging, revealing how identity is continually negotiated between the self and the structures that attempt to define it.

จิรัญชัย นิลธนะพันธุ์ สำรวจวิธีที่ปัจเจกบุคคลถูกหล่อหลอม จำกัดขอบเขต และตัดสินด้วยโครงสร้างทางสังคม ขนบที่สืบทอดกันมา และความคาดหวังของส่วนรวม ผ่านผลงานจิตรกรรมรูปคน เขาพิจารณาแรงตึงเครียดระหว่างเสรีภาพส่วนบุคคลกับแรงกดดันให้ยอมรับแบบแผน พร้อมตั้งคำถามว่าความแตกต่างได้รับการยอมรับอย่างแท้จริง หรือเพียงได้รับอนุญาตให้อยู่ภายในขอบเขตที่สังคมกำหนดไว้เท่านั้น

ผลงานของเขาหยิบยืมบรรยากาศและโครงสร้างภาพจากจิตรกรรมในอดีต ก่อนแทรกความผิดเพี้ยน การขาดช่วง และความไม่มั่นคงทางสายตาลงไป บุคคลในภาพปรากฏอย่างโดดเดี่ยว เคลื่อนออกจากตำแหน่ง หรือรวมตัวกันภายใต้ความสัมพันธ์ที่ไม่ราบรื่น ฉากอันคุ้นเคยจึงแปรเปลี่ยนเป็นพื้นที่ทางจิตวิทยาซึ่งความกลมกลืนกับความขัดแย้งดำรงอยู่พร้อมกัน น้ำหนักสีมืดมัว การเคลื่อนไหวพร่าเลือน และร่างกายที่แตกแยก เผยให้เห็นความเปราะบางซึ่งซ่อนอยู่ภายใต้บทบาทและภาพลักษณ์ทางสังคม

ใน Non-Harmony นิทรรศการเดี่ยวครั้งแรกของเขากับ Number 1 Gallery เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2568 จิรัญชัยนำเสนอความแตกต่างในฐานะเงื่อนไขจำเป็นของการดำรงอยู่ มิใช่ความไร้ระเบียบ แนวทางการสร้างสรรค์ที่พัฒนาต่อจากนี้มุ่งท้าทายกรอบตายตัวว่าด้วยความงาม ความปกติ และการเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของสังคม พร้อมเปิดเผยว่าอัตลักษณ์ของมนุษย์ต้องต่อรองอยู่เสมอระหว่างตัวตนภายในกับโครงสร้างภายนอกที่พยายามกำหนดความหมายให้แก่เรา
